Rock
Creek is located east of Osoyoos on the Crowsnest
Highway #3 and sits at the junction of Hwy #3
and Hwy #33. Highway #33 joins Westbridge, Beaverdell
and Big White Ski Resort and carries on to Kelowna
in the central Okanagan.
Rock Creek’s beginnings like many of the
communities in the Boundary Country can be traced
back to the glory days of gold rushes and mining
activity. A trade route was established between
Rock Creek and the BC Coast to carry supplies
in to Rock Creek and the silver, zinc, lead and
copper out for processing. The establishment of
these now abandoned railroads now comprises parts
of the Trans Canada Trail. There is excellent
hiking and cycling trails along the old Kettle
Valley Railway line, which can be accessed at
several points just off the main highway.
Rock
Creek is well known for it’s Annual Rock
Creek and Boundary Fall Fair in September and
it’s referred to as “The best little
Country Fair Around”. During the long weekend
in August the Sky High Blues Festival takes place.
The area around Rock Creek is home to an abundance
of wildlife and recreational opportunities as
well as some productive fishing at many of its
small lakes and creek mouths. If you are looking
for information on anything going on in Rock Creek
while you are there, be sure to stop in at the
Petro Canada gas station. They have an extensive
bulletin board and everyone in side the store
is more than happy to help.
